Update June 14th: Sunday morning and I receive 3 messages from Allen Solly before 9AM. Too much for me to tolerate - Visited their Oberoi Mall outlet and conveyed my frustration to the staff there. They took my number and promised I won’t receive any more messages. No Sms, No longer a Allen Solly customer - CASE CLOSED!

1. They took the number and write in a book. Nothing printed on it. It was a general feedback book manually created.

2. Yes giving a landline number was a possibility or I have alternate mobile nos for this purpose which I leave at office ( http://annkur.com/?s=BPL+sims+(yes+I+have+4) ). But I liked something so much that I wanted it and I didn't want them to reach me directly (and probably thats why I am so badly hurt). I had a nice rapport with the staff on that day and I trusted that he would call back whenever that while blazer that I liked in the pic was available.

3. I don't think all are same. There are certainly better brands with good practices. A message once in a while is ok, but more than 5 messages a week is certainly Spamming.

btw: The next time I visit Oberoi Mall, M surely gonna convey my frustration (and maybe in not a very polite manner) to them.

I read about @sm63's issue, that was to do with free gifts they give. I had similar issue with eBay.in, took 6 months of followup, but got the gift worth Rs 300. Worth the effort?

Nice Rant, but a few questions that may probably help you put things in the right perspective.

I never opted for this SMS spam = Did you specifically say so?/Fill in any register, book, asking them to call you for something? Then in all probability, did not read the fine print.

Yes there is....Call the franchise/stop by the shop, ask for the TM/AM number & call up, most likely the threat of asking for the number, they will stop.

AND the best way to do so is give a landline number - home/office, takes care of everything or maybe a dongle nos - which is the best:)

Moving out may be a solution, provided you can guarantee that the others are better:) I can assure you they are the same.

Consumers Unite, Boycott, take the onus & start at least....problem is nobody wants to see such things to a logical conclusion:)

BTW @sm63 I think has a similar issue for India Today

Well, I wish you can go from one brand to another and benefit!

Unfortunately, at the core, I think, in India, we just do not have a customer -centric attitude. I have summarized the reasons why this may be the case, on the blog at http://blog.socialwavelength.com.

Meanwhile, here is a story of my frustration with India Today. It is most times, NOT about the amount involved, but about how and why they take the consumer for granted.
