Its a new year and time for some new resolutions. But this year the approach is different. I have realised that you cannot plan exactly what you want to do in a year. Things happen, they fall into place. Let it happen! Look back at the year that has passed and see the good things you achieved; realise the mistakes you made and prepare yourself for the year ahead!

Going back a week, its been really hectic. We worked hard on our publications and geared up for a couple of new launches (Announcements on OnlyGizmos soon). Ever since we launched iPhoneHelp last year on my birthday (it was just a coincidence and a non serious venture) it has grown significantly. Making me think a little auspiciously about this day. And thus I take the opportunity today to launch a couple of new sites on the OG Network.

Though I am not in the best of the condition at the moment, in office, tired with the ligament injury on the ankle since a month now and fighting the recession :P. Hoping that all my friends have a great 2009 ahead …

For the lie detector I suggested using it to testify people filling their Tax Returns, and for My opinion of World Without Friction here we go:

No friction? Its hard to imaging the world as if they were slipping on a gigantic piece of Ice. Though Ice-Skating isn’t my hobby, things would have moved really fast without friction. This brings me to the utility aspect of  this scenario. If we could channelize and productively utilize this speed, we could create wonders. Traveling and logistics would have been a breeze (Wow, that would have meant no traffic in Mumbai!).

Even sports events would have been visualized with a completely different vision. Gravity would have ruled  the sports-In my opinion. Much like the games I play on my gravity sensing iPhone (hmm, seems like Steve Jobs had a dream of world without friction a few years back).

And on a lighter note, how about education? Wouldn’t it be great if all our notes slip into our brains without any friction :D. Even businessmen would love transacting their receivables without any friction.

All said, what would you do about the friction that stops you from thinking??

I wasn’t feeling too well and for some reason unable to write, so I was helped by a Taqneeq volunteer who wrote the paper on my behalf (Thank God, my handwriting is horrible as it is).

Just like my college day I was the first one to finish. (I left the hall in 15mins - while the offered duration was 90mins). I could have written more, but I had the boat of humanity to concentrate on

I would be home in December recovering from an Ligament tear (ankle), and so I got loads of free time to play around. And here is one of the geek stuff I made … A WiFi range booster that works GR8!

Now I can confidently roam around anywhere in my house enjoying the convenience of WiFi. Anyone looking for a similar solution? Well I might get the tutorial on OnlyGizmos or I might even make one for you - Just give me a buzz!

hmmm … If you cannot relate to what I am saying, all this creates a sudden environment of pressure. Its a rat race, actually a DOG race. So is it necessary for one to start planning so deeply as soon as he graduates? Not really! IMO

Though I am not sure if you have seen the Steve Jobs video, where he speaks about doing what you love (I would take that as doing whatever you are passionate about) and keep hunting till you find the right thing. The key lesson here is that at the age of 20-22 its not necessary that you would be able to decide accurately what you really love, whats you really want to do (Unless you are one of those second-handers who have been trained since childhood to be something xyz…)

Most people would expect to see you choose a steady progressive and safe career path as you take your first step. The advices would be, you can try this later - first get a little job experience, prepare for your CAT - everything else later, go to dad’s office - help him/learn - everything else later … and so on! You are going to spend a significant (Majority) of your life time working. Its important to do something that you like, something that you are passionate about, and something where you want to be good. You wont be a pro / champ from day 1. No matter where you go in life - Either a startup or a JOB career after a PG. The real learning happens as you do it… The choice you have to make is Where would I invest my learning time and become GOOD!

Its not (Just) about the money: But the one thing that would have struck your mind when you read my words is - MONEY! Yes money is important. That’s a scarce resource, and not everyone is loaded with Vitamin M. This creates a breed of entrepreneurs who work to make some money and fund their passion. Not a bad option; but if you are really confident - Have a little extra stomach to take risks. (Focus & Discipline is the key). Many people are disappointed with their jobs is because it isn’t their ideal career. For me I would accept doing what I am passionate about and enjoy doing as long as I can make the bare minimum to survive.

In all probability young entrepreneurs would relate much better to me here, as this is a common senario they find themselves in — To keep doing it or To give up and become a second-hander ruled by the evil laws of the society

Ps: I am somewhere in the middle, lost in these same scenarios. But I have seen persistent people succeed; regardless of where I land up, I want to believe in these words!

My thoughts and views here come from different places. Though I started writing (This Post) immediately after reading this.
