Nischay #April 2009

After a long break Nischay team came together last saturday (4th April) to organize a entertainment program @ Mother Teresa Home for the Aged at Santacruz W.

The event was a success and hopefully Nischay would organise a few more in the coming days. Complete updates on the Nischay Orkut Community 🙂 (Special thanks to Mr & Mrs Sheth for guiding us for this event i.e. @kunalsheth’s parents).

Also something I wanted to post since long: Nischay coverage in One India One People Magazine.

Back from the past

I recently went to see a disaster of a movie, Aa Dekhen Zara. No I’m not going to waste anytime reviewing a movie on this blog (at least not anytime soon). There is this little incident during the intermission that left me with a little delight.

While standing in the Q to grab some popcorn I could see how uncivilized and indisciplined the well educated crowd can really be. Now this is not something we see at Fame or other big multiplexes. But this was SunCity….

As I struggled to politely try and request the popcorn vendor for some caramel there were these as***..s who would just jump in from here and there and hand over a gandhi chap note to them and hijack my place in the line. Just at that very moment I said to myself that my schooling has left me with a little more discipline and values than I need to survive in amchi Mumbai.

Just as I stood in that line thinking to abandon those combo coupons I had purchased for the popcorns, a lady appeared behind me to buy some popcorn. I instantly recognized her, she was the supervisor of our school. Though I never had the opportunity to study in any of her classes, I remember her as a strict and serious one. I immediately offered to help her across with the order and took the 2 coupons she was carrying and this time I somehow managed to sideline all the monkeys surrounding us to place that order. (…though I didn’t introduce myself as a Xaverite to her)

Lessons learnt:

  • Being organized and decent everywhere doesn’t help
  • Annkur follows the protocol and at times wrongly so
  • Annkur can fight better for others, but badly for himself!

Ok so BPL wants to get me a Date, but who the HELL asked for it?

bpl-chat

Back in June I had written about how BPL has got my blood boiling with thier buggy Missed Call alert service, and off late its thier excessive advertising that is irritating me. For example see the message above…

There is a slim chance that you would have read my cry for improving the Do Not Call Registry service back in July last year. Even after registering myself in the DND service several months back – I still recieve these automated advertisement calls from BPL. And what adds to my pain is the fact that a couple of my BPL sims (yes I have 4) are switched off at times and the calls are redirected to my cell. These adverisement calls come routed to my cell from these sims – So that means I PAY TO LISTEN TO THEIR ADVERTISEMENT.

Comeon BPL aka LOOP MOBILE – Get honest! I have been a customer for years now. Just as I say this, I pray to god that NUMBER PORTABILITY COMES TO INDIA ASAP

Jai ho – Bhay ho (ROFL VIDEO)

Recently a political party in India took the rights for famouse Slumdog song “Jai Ho”; here is the response from the other party. …the Bhay ho version of the original video…

Happy April Fools Day #2009

Janta,

Happy April Fools Day

Appreciate all the support, encouragement and unexpressed words that you gave me in the last week. Just one person came close to guessing that its a joke (yes K.D).

So here it is – I have quit no job – Since I never had any. The whole spy thingee was a prank and completely a creation of my imagination. The immediate TG was really small but it seems to have spread wild over Twitter. Thanks to my crime partner @ankita_gaba

Here is the 2009 Annkur April Fool Prank in pictures:

I have quit my job!

Over the past year friends and family have been asking me what am I doing? And I always managed to escape with some excuse. Often telling things that I was doing years back. However the fact remains that I worked in a very secretive environment.

Last year I was approached by a rather unusual startup. What they did is secondary; but the point it was that none of us were ever allowed to reveal about our work, our team members or any other details. Yeah creepy, but it was the nature of business that required us to do so.

When I first heard the idea I said it to them “This wont work”! But the work they had already done and the money promised was too much to resist. It was challenging. And I sure did live up to the task. Being one of the top performers in the 17 member team; I find myself to be a changed person now. Annkur@2007 was way too different than Annkur@today! And this change prompted me to QUIT without spending even a day more working for those SICK B*&%&^*!

So what is this organization about?
